The accident occurred between 3 AM and 4 AM inside the Renewable Energy (RE) Park near Khavda, where a truck collided head-on with a Bolero Camper carrying workers, police said.
The collision severely damaged the pickup vehicle and trapped seven workers inside the wreckage. Rescue teams used a crane to extricate them, but all seven died.
More than 20 injured workers were taken to hospital by ambulance. Preliminary information suggested that the vehicle was carrying around 30–32 workers when the collision occurred.
The injured were taken to the District Hospital in Bhuj, where specialist doctors were providing medical treatment, according to reports.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the collision. Officials are examining vehicle movements within the renewable energy park and other possible factors that may have contributed to the accident.
Authorities were transporting the bodies of the deceased to Bhuj for post-mortem examinations. Further details about the victims’ identities and the condition of the injured were awaited.
Khavda, located in the arid Kutch region, is witnessing large-scale renewable energy development, with major solar and wind power projects under development.
