Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25-year public service journey as a ‘golden and transformative’ chapter in Indian democracy.
Addressing the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha-Seva Jyoti Yatra’ in Gurugram, Shah highlighted PM Modi’s Gujarat and national leadership.
The event marked 25 years of PM Modi’s constitutional leadership. Similar Seva Jyoti Yatras were organised across every district to promote service, dedication and nation-building.
The programme began with a screening of PM Modi’s address. Shah and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini later lit a ceremonial torch and flagged off young participants carrying the Seva Jyoti to a nearby intersection around 800 metres away.
Shah said October 7 holds special significance in India’s democratic history. He said PM Modi, despite his humble background, had completed 25 years of continuous public service while taking millions of citizens forward.
HM Amit Shah said history would record the period in ‘golden letters’. He cited poverty reduction, stronger national security, the abrogation of Article 370, the elimination of Naxalism, the construction of the Ram Janmabhoomi and Kashi Vishwanath temples, and unprecedented infrastructure expansion.
Shah claimed 25 crore people had moved above the poverty line. He described PM Modi’s journey as one of “India’s welfare, the welfare of the poor and India’s pride”.
He urged citizens, especially youth, to join the campaign and contribute to nation-building. Shah prayed for PM Modi’s long life, good health and continued leadership.
The event was attended by Nayab Singh Saini, Smriti Irani, Archana Gupta and Rao Inderjit Singh.
