PM Modi completed 25 years as head of a government on October 7, marking a political journey that began with his appointment as Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001.
He took the oath as Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001, and served in the post until May 2014 before becoming Prime Minister. He has continued in the position since taking oath as Prime Minister in May 2014.
The Union Cabinet on Tuesday passed a resolution congratulating PM Modi on completing 25 years of continuous leadership as head of a government.
His 25-year political journey began in Gujarat, where he served as Chief Minister for more than 12 years. During this period, his administration focused on governance, infrastructure development and public service initiatives.
PM Modi later became the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate and led the party to a majority in the 2014 Lok Sabha election. He returned as Prime Minister with larger mandates in 2019 and 2024.
