Delhi Police imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) across New Delhi district on Friday ahead of a proposed protest at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Authorities have prohibited unauthorised slogan shouting and speeches as well.
The order prohibits gatherings of five or more people, processions, demonstrations, picketing and dharnas without prior written permission.
It restricts the carrying of weapons, lathis, sticks, swords, brickbats and other dangerous objects. DCP Sachin Sharma urged people to follow the restrictions.
“Section 163 is in force in New Delhi. I would like to inform everyone that any kind of unauthorised sit-in or protest is not allowed here. Please follow the law, act lawfully and cooperate with the police.”

Delhi Police detained AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj and several party workers at Jantar Mantar while they protested against the Election Commission.
In Mumbai, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke announced a “Jail Bharo Andolan” at Shivaji Park.
