President Murmu, PM Modi Pay Floral Tribute To Mahatma Gandhi At Raj Ghat

President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat in Delhi on Friday, marking his 157th birth anniversary.

President Murmu visited Raj Ghat and honoured the Father of the Nation. She recalled Gandhi’s enduring ideals of peace, non-violence, empathy and inclusive development.

In a post on X, President Murmu said, “On behalf of all citizens, I pay my respectful tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on his 157th birth anniversary celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti.”

She said Gandhi’s life and ideals command global respect. She noted that conflicts in several parts of the world have made his message of peace and non-violence more relevant.

President Murmu said India is pursuing the national goal of becoming Viksit Bharat by 2047. She stressed empathy and inclusion so that every citizen can benefit from development.

She linked this approach with Gandhi’s principle of ‘Sarvodaya’, which promotes the welfare and upliftment of all.

“On the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, let us reaffirm our commitment to building an empowered, developed and Atmanirbhar Bharat through our ethical conduct and active participation,” she said.

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan visited Raj Ghat and paid his respects to Gandhi on his birth anniversary.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also laid floral tributes at the memorial, remembering Gandhi’s contribution and enduring legacy.

India observes Gandhi Jayanti every year on October 2 to commemorate Gandhi’s birth anniversary. His philosophy of truth and non-violence played a significant role in India’s freedom movement and continues to resonate worldwide.

The Raj Ghat tributes marked the 157th birth anniversary and recalled Gandhi’s message of peace, non-violence and welfare for all.
