Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Skyroot Aerospace co-founders Pawan Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka in New Delhi following the successful launch of Vikram-1, the company’s first orbital launch vehicle.
The meeting centred on the landmark mission, future technological advancements and the expanding role of private companies in India’s rapidly growing space sector.
Following the meeting, PM Modi described the interaction as ‘a great interaction’ in a post on X, saying that the success of Vikram-1 featured prominently in their discussions alongside several other important topics. He praised the founders’ energy, ambition and optimism, stating that they reflected the vibrant spirit of India’s private space ecosystem.
The Prime Minister also conveyed his best wishes to the entire Skyroot team for its future endeavours.

For Skyroot’s founders, the meeting marked an important milestone in the company’s journey.
Pawan Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka said they were honoured to share Skyroot’s growth story, the success of Vikram-1 and their long-term vision of strengthening India’s position in the global space industry. They added that the Prime Minister showed keen interest in the company’s technology, future roadmap and the vast opportunities emerging for private enterprises in the country’s space sector.
Skyroot thanked the government for opening the space sector to private players and acknowledged the support of IN-SPACe and ISRO in advancing its missions.
Founded in Hyderabad in 2018 by former ISRO scientists Pawan Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka, the company created history with Vikram-S, India’s first privately launched rocket, followed by Vikram-1, which successfully placed multiple payloads into Low Earth Orbit, making India the third nation with private orbital launch capability.
