PIB Fact Check Debunks Fake AI Video Of CDS General NS Raja Subramani

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check has exposed an AI-generated video falsely attributed to Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General NS Raja Subramani, dismissing claims that 30,000 Indian Army personnel resigned over the recent protests at Jantar Mantar.

In a post on X, PIB Fact Check said Pakistani propaganda accounts had circulated the fabricated video to spread misinformation. It categorically stated that General Subramani never made the alleged remarks and confirmed that the video had been digitally manipulated using artificial intelligence.

The fake video falsely showed the CDS urging the government to go easy on protesting students and claiming that thousands of Army personnel had resigned over the alleged police action. It also falsely claimed he had asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and seek the Education Minister’s resignation.

PIB Fact Check rejected the claims, urged people to rely only on verified official sources, and shared the original video.

In the authentic clip, General Subramani invited citizens to attend the IndianOil Durand Cup, which will take place in Kolkata, Imphal, Shillong, Guwahati and Ranchi from July 25 to August 23. He also highlighted the tournament’s rich legacy and noted that President Droupadi Murmu had unveiled the Durand Cup trophy earlier this month.

The government has repeatedly cautioned against the growing misuse of artificial intelligence to create deceptive content and has urged people to verify viral videos before sharing them.

Authorities continue to emphasise that misinformation can undermine public trust and national security, making it essential for citizens to depend on credible and official sources for accurate information.
