India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held separate bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Oman and the Netherlands on the sidelines of ASEAN-related meetings in Manila on Thursday, focusing on regional developments and strengthening strategic partnerships.
Jaishankar met Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, and the two leaders exchanged views on recent developments in the Gulf region. They also agreed to remain in contact.
The meeting comes amid renewed tensions in West Asia following the recent military exchanges between the United States and Iran.

Earlier in the day, Jaishankar met Netherlands Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen and reviewed the outcomes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to the Netherlands. He noted that the elevation of bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership has opened new avenues of cooperation in semiconductors, water resources, green hydrogen, healthcare and culture.

Jaishankar also met Christian Saunders, Commissioner-General ad interim of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). The discussions covered India’s contributions and commitments announced at the recent Donors Conference, particularly in the areas of healthcare and capacity building.

The External Affairs Minister is on an official visit to the Philippines to participate in Foreign Minister-level meetings under the ASEAN framework.
Earlier on Thursday, Jaishankar attended the 21st East Asia Summit and called on Philippines President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr. He conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s greetings and reiterated India’s support for the Philippines’ ASEAN chairship.
The Minister noted that India-Philippines cooperation under their Strategic Partnership continues to diversify through the implementation of the India-Philippines Plan of Action 2025-2029.
