The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit has dismissed reports claiming that the Ministry of Finance’s secure printing press is producing question papers for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination.
The clarification came after sections of the media circulated reports suggesting that authorities had assigned the printing of the examination papers to the Finance Ministry’s high-security press.
PIB categorically rejected the claim and labelled the information as false.

The attached visual highlighted a Hindi newspaper report that carried the claim. The image also displayed a prominent ‘FAKE’ stamp alongside PIB’s official clarification denying the report.
According to the fact-checking agency, the Ministry of Finance’s secure printing facility is not involved in printing question papers for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination.
PIB urged the public to rely only on verified information issued through official channels.
The clarification comes amid heightened scrutiny surrounding the medical entrance examination.
Authorities cancelled the original NEET-UG 2026 examination conducted on May 3 after investigators verified a paper leak.
The controversy emerged when officials discovered a so-called ‘guess paper’ that matched the actual examination paper.
The finding raised serious concerns about the integrity of the test process and prompted authorities to annul the examination.
More than 22 lakh students had appeared for the original examination, making it one of the country’s largest entrance tests.
Following the cancellation, authorities scheduled a fresh examination for June 21, 2026.
Officials have introduced stricter security arrangements for the re-examination. These measures include enhanced monitoring, tighter logistical controls, and the transportation of question papers with support from the Indian Air Force.
The PIB clarification aims to curb misinformation and ensure that students, parents, and stakeholders receive accurate updates regarding the conduct of the re-examination and associated security protocols.
