The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Saturday announced revised examination timings for the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET-UG) 2026 after a technical issue disrupted the commencement of examinations at certain centres on May 30.
In a statement shared on X, the agency attributed the disruption to a technical malfunction reported by its service provider, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
The NTA stated that the issue delayed the start of examinations at several locations but confirmed that authorities have since rectified the problem.

The agency emphasised that it has taken corrective measures to ensure that no candidate faces any disadvantage due to the delay. It assured students that examination centres are providing full compensatory time, allowing candidates to complete their papers without any reduction in allotted duration.
Candidates must report from 2:30 PM for the afternoon session. The exam will begin at 4:00 PM instead of 3:00 PM.
The NTA further clarified that candidates attending the morning session would receive the complete examination duration and would be permitted to leave only after finishing their papers.
Expressing regret over the inconvenience caused to students and parents, the agency also released its official support channels, including the helpline number +91-11-40759000 and email assistance for candidates requiring help.

According to the Ministry of Education, CUET serves as a common admission platform that provides equal opportunities to students across India, particularly those from rural and remote regions.
The examination enables candidates to seek admission to Central, State, Deemed, and Private Universities through a single assessment process.
Registration for CUET-UG 2026 commenced in the first week of April.
In 2025, over 13.54 lakh students registered for the examination, which covered 37 subjects in 13 languages and facilitated admissions to more than 260 universities nationwide.
