Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday concluded his visit to Italy, marking the final phase of his five-nation diplomatic tour focused on expanding India’s strategic partnerships, economic cooperation and global engagement with key nations.
The Ministry of External Affairs stated that the visit added fresh momentum to the India-Italy Special Strategic Partnership and further strengthened bilateral cooperation across several sectors.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India-Italy ties continue to grow stronger and described the visit as successful and outcome-oriented.
Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Italy came at a significant time as New Delhi and Rome continue to deepen cooperation in areas such as trade, defence, clean energy, advanced technology, connectivity and Indo-Pacific engagement.
India and Italy have significantly strengthened bilateral ties since elevating their relationship to a Strategic Partnership during Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s visit to India for the G20 Summit in 2023.
Since 2023, India and Italy have strengthened political engagement and expanded cooperation through regular high-level meetings between Prime Minister Modi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
Officials said the discussions focused on investments, defence production, clean energy and cooperation in sectors such as semiconductors, space technology and maritime security.
The leaders also discussed the Indo-Pacific, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, energy security and global supply chain challenges.
Italy remains a key trading partner for India in Europe, with several Italian firms expanding operations in sectors such as engineering, automobiles, renewable energy and fashion.
The visit concluded Prime Minister Modi’s five-nation diplomatic tour aimed at strengthening India’s strategic and economic partnerships. He is expected to arrive in New Delhi on Thursday.
