Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude to the Indian community in Italy for their warm welcome in Rome during his official visit, praising their strong emotional connection with India and their role in strengthening bilateral ties.
PM Modi said on X that he deeply thanked the Indian diaspora in Italy for their affection. He noted that their commitment towards enhancing India-Italy relations was highly commendable and added that Indians living abroad continue to make the country proud across the world.

During his visit, the Prime Minister also attended a dinner hosted by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
Sharing photographs and updates on X, PM Modi said he looked forward to their upcoming discussions focused on further strengthening the India-Italy friendship.

Earlier, PM Modi highlighted that he met Prime Minister Meloni shortly after arriving in Rome and later visited the iconic Colosseum. He said the two leaders exchanged views on several key issues and expressed optimism about continued discussions aimed at deepening cooperation between the two countries.

PM Modi will hold talks with Prime Minister Meloni and meet President Sergio Mattarella during the visit. They will meet at Villa Doria Pamphili and are expected to adopt a joint declaration to strengthen bilateral ties.
The MEA said the visit reflects growing momentum under the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025–2029, covering trade, investment, defence, clean energy, technology and people-to-people ties. It also said the visit will boost India’s engagement with Europe after the India-EU Free Trade Agreement talks.
