Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a dinner hosted by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Rome during the final leg of his five-nation tour. He further said that he looks forward to further discussions aimed at strengthening India-Italy relations.
Sharing pictures from the meeting on social media platform X, PM Modi said he met Prime Minister Meloni shortly after arriving in Rome and later visited the iconic Colosseum.
The Prime Minister noted that both leaders exchanged views on a wide range of subjects and expressed optimism about upcoming talks focused on boosting the India-Italy friendship.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni warmly welcomed PM Modi upon his arrival in Italy on Tuesday night.
Posting on X, Meloni wrote, “Welcome to Rome, my friend!”, reflecting the close rapport between the two leaders.

PM Modi will hold talks with Prime Minister Meloni and meet Italian President Sergio Mattarella during the visit.
The leaders are expected to meet at Villa Doria Pamphili and adopt a joint declaration to strengthen the India-Italy strategic partnership.
The MEA said the visit reflects growing bilateral momentum under the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025–2029, covering trade, investment, defence, clean energy, technology and people-to-people ties.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the visit would give fresh momentum to India-Italy relations. He also noted that Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister, Antonio Tajani, warmly received PM Modi at the airport.
According to the MEA, bilateral trade between the two countries reached 16.77 billion US dollars in 2025.
The Ministry added that the visit would further strengthen India’s engagement with Europe following the India-EU Free Trade Agreement negotiations.
