Rajya Sabha MP and former Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dr Dinesh Sharma said the public was punishing opposition parties for what he described as appeasement politics and claimed the trend would continue in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Speaking to journalists in Muzaffarnagar, Sharma said parties such as the Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, Congress, Trinamool Congress, DMK and AAP were now struggling for political survival. He claimed the BJP would form the next government in Uttar Pradesh with a three-fourths majority.
Sharma said development had transformed Uttar Pradesh and significantly improved connectivity across cities. He added that infrastructure growth had accelerated economic activity and prosperity in the state.
According to him, the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had made development the BJP’s main identity.
Targeting the Congress party, Dr Dinesh Sharma accused it of practising ‘deceptive politics’ and becoming dependent on regional parties, while also criticising opposition leaders for blaming EVMs for electoral defeats. He said the PM Modi government had granted constitutional status to the OBC Commission, developed the Panch Teerth linked to Dr BR Ambedkar and introduced 10 per cent reservation for economically weaker sections.
Referring to conflicts involving Iran, Ukraine, Israel and the United States, Sharma said global tensions had triggered concerns over energy and food supplies and defended PM Narendra Modi’s appeal for the careful use of petroleum products.
Dr Dinesh Sharma also said the government would strengthen border fencing in West Bengal to curb infiltration.
During his Muzaffarnagar visit, he met BJP leaders, party workers and traders, attended a religious gathering and released the book Atmabodh.
