Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held bilateral talks with Vietnam’s President To Lam at Hyderabad House, discussing the full spectrum of India-Vietnam relations, as well as regional and global issues of mutual interest.
Earlier in the day, President To Lam received a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan, where he was greeted by President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi.
Children in traditional attire waving Indian and Vietnamese flags also welcomed the visiting leader.
The Vietnamese President later paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the visit reflects the enduring influence of Gandhi’s ideals on India-Vietnam relations.
President To Lam arrived in Gaya on Tuesday. Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary received him and accompanied him to the Mahabodhi Temple, where he offered prayers.

Vietnam’s President To Lam arrived in New Delhi later in the day. Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai welcomed him at the airport.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval also met the visiting leader. The two discussed ways to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

The MEA stated that the visit is likely to deepen bilateral relations further. The visit coincides with the 10th anniversary of the India-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, established during PM Modi’s visit to Vietnam in 2016.
President To Lam will remain in India until May 7. He also serves as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
During his visit, the Vietnamese President will likely meet President Murmu and other leaders in New Delhi.
President To Lam will also travel to Mumbai. He is likely to visit the National Stock Exchange, meet the Maharashtra Chief Minister and Governor, and attend a business forum.
The visit will likely provide fresh momentum to bilateral engagement and open new avenues of cooperation.
