On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered the victims of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, describing their sacrifice as a lasting symbol of courage and resilience.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “On this day, we pay our heartfelt homage to the brave martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh. Their sacrifice stands as a powerful reminder of the indomitable spirit of our people. The courage and determination they displayed continue to inspire generations to uphold the values of liberty, justice and dignity.”

In a separate post, Prime Minister Modi noted, “My respectful homage to all the immortal martyrs of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The saga of their indomitable courage and self-respect against the barbarity of foreign rule will continue to inspire every generation of the nation.”

Amit Shah also paid homage and recalled the tragic events of 1919, when British forces fired on unarmed civilians gathered peacefully. He noted that the incident deeply impacted the nation and intensified the resolve of freedom fighters, including Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh.
Taking to X, Shah posted, “On this very day, the inhuman face of the cruel British regime was exposed at Jallianwala Bagh in Punjab, when indiscriminate bullets were rained upon the unarmed countrymen who were holding a peaceful gathering.”
“This heinous act shook the entire nation and further ignited the flame of freedom in the hearts of revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh. It was that historic turning point from which the spirit of revolution gained even greater momentum in the Indian freedom struggle,” the post read.
The Minister further added, “I pay homage to the immortal martyrs who laid down their lives in Jallianwala Bagh and bow to them.”
