In a nail-biting encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the Gujarat Titans secured a dramatic one-run victory over the Delhi Capitals in the 14th match of IPL 2026. Despite a valiant effort from KL Rahul, Delhi narrowly missed out on what could have been their third consecutive win.

After losing the toss, the Gujarat Titans set a challenging target of 210/4. Sai Sudharsan departed early, but captain Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler stabilised the innings with a quickfire 60-run partnership. Buttler struck 52 off just 27 balls, while Gill continued his fine form with 70.

Gill further built momentum alongside Washington Sundar, who contributed a fluent 55. Their 104-run stand powered Gujarat to a competitive total. For Delhi, Mukesh Kumar claimed two wickets, while Lungi Ngidi and Kuldeep Yadav chipped in with one each.

Chasing 211, the Delhi Capitals got off to a strong start through Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul. Nissanka’s brisk 41 provided early momentum before a double strike from Rashid Khan in the 10th over shifted the balance.

Rahul held the innings together with composure, forging crucial partnerships with David Miller and Tristan Stubbs. He played a magnificent innings of 92 off 52 deliveries, keeping Delhi firmly in contention until the closing stages.

Dramatic Final Over Seals the Result

Needing 13 runs in the final over, Delhi’s hopes fluctuated dramatically. Vipraj Nigam struck a boundary but fell soon after. Miller reignited hopes with a six, leaving just two runs required off the final two balls.

However, a crucial refusal of a single proved costly. On the last delivery, Kuldeep Yadav was run out while attempting the winning run, handing Gujarat a narrow victory.

Rashid Khan starred with the ball, finishing with 3/17, while Prasidh Krishna took two wickets. Mohammed Siraj also contributed with one scalp.

With this win, the Gujarat Titans climbed to sixth place, while the Delhi Capitals, despite the defeat, remained fourth. The closely fought contest highlighted the fine margins that define T20 cricket.
