Rajasthan Royals put up an impressive bowling performance to dismiss Chennai Super Kings for 127 in their Indian Premier League 2026 fixture at ACA Stadium on Monday.
Fast bowlers Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger struck early blows, while Ravindra Jadeja added two wickets in the middle overs.
CSK’s young batting unit failed to settle in the absence of MS Dhoni and Dewald Brevis, as the pitch offered assistance to seamers after light rain before the match.
Archer tested the batters with movement, and Burger provided the first breakthrough by dismissing Sanju Samson for a low score.
Archer removed captain Ruturaj Gaikwad soon after, as the batter failed to connect with a straight delivery.
Burger then added to the pressure by dismissing Ayush Mhatre for a duck, with Dhruv Jurel completing the catch behind the stumps.
Brief Resistance in Middle Overs
Sarfaraz Khan attempted to counterattack with a few aggressive strokes, but Sandeep Sharma removed Matthew Short during the power-play.
Jadeja then struck twice to dismiss Sarfaraz and Shivam Dube, further denting CSK’s innings.
Jamie Overton played a determined knock of 43, helping CSK recover slightly after losing quick wickets.
He built a small partnership with Anshul Kamboj to push the total past 120 before getting run out due to a mix-up.
RR bowlers maintained tight lines and picked up wickets at regular intervals. Archer, Burger and Jadeja finished with two wickets each, ensuring CSK never regained momentum.
With a modest target to chase, the Rajasthan Royals are in a favourable position to secure a win and begin their campaign positively under captain Riyan Parag.
Brief Scores: Chennai Super Kings 127 in 19.4 overs (Jamie Overton 43, Kartik Sharma 18; Ravindra Jadeja 2-18, Jofra Archer 2-19) vs Rajasthan Royals.
