The Bharatiya Janata Party unit in West Bengal expects an unprecedented gathering at a major political rally scheduled in Kolkata on March 14.
Narendra Modi will address the public meeting at the historic Brigade Parade Ground.
Party leaders anticipate a record turnout as supporters from across the state prepare to attend the event.
The rally will also mark the culmination of the BJP’s statewide outreach programme, the Parivartan Yatra, launched earlier this month ahead of the crucial Assembly elections scheduled later this year.
According to state BJP vice-president Raju Banerjee, preparations for the large gathering are progressing swiftly.
Workers have begun installing multiple stages and logistical arrangements at the venue to accommodate the expected crowd.
Banerjee stated that the party expects enthusiastic participation from residents of various districts.
However, he declined to disclose the exact number of stages being constructed for the rally, citing security and official protocol.
He further criticised the administration-led CM by Mamata Banerjee. He alleged that the law-and-order situation in the state has deteriorated and accused the state government of disregarding constitutional principles.
Banerjee also welcomed the appointment of R N Ravi as the new Governor. He expressed hope that the new constitutional head would help restore governance and uphold legal order in the state.
In addition, he criticised the state leadership for politicising the issue of rising cooking gas prices.
CM Banerjee argued that if the state government truly seeks relief for citizens, it should consider reducing state taxes on LPG and addressing high electricity tariffs.
Political observers expect the March 14 rally to play a significant role in shaping the political narrative ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections.
