Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday strongly criticised the Opposition for submitting a notice seeking the removal of Om Birla.
He also accused opposition members of creating disruption in the Lok Sabha by making what he described as misleading claims.
Responding during the debate, HM Shah dismissed allegations that the Leader of the Opposition had been prevented from speaking in the House.
He stated that parliamentary proceedings operate strictly according to established rules and conventions. Every member, he emphasised, must respect those procedures.
HM Shah explained that the Chair retains the authority to reprimand members who deliberately violate parliamentary discipline.
He also clarified that the Chair switches off microphones when any member, including ministers, speaks without formal recognition to address the House.
Taking a pointed swipe at the Congress party, Home Minister Shah remarked that senior leaders such as Shashi Tharoor should counsel younger colleagues about respecting parliamentary traditions and rules.
He criticised the Opposition for repeatedly claiming moral superiority while allegedly disregarding parliamentary decorum.

According to HM Shah, such behaviour reveals inconsistency in their public stance.
The Home Minister also highlighted a notable development regarding the motion against the Speaker.
He said that during earlier no-confidence motions under Congress-led governments, the Speaker had continued to preside over proceedings.
In contrast, Birla chose to recuse himself from the debate, establishing what Shah described as a new precedent.
HM Shah further criticised the Opposition’s handling of its own notice. He stated that the first submission contained incorrect dates and numerical details.
The second notice reportedly carried only one original signature, while signatures of 108 other members appeared as photocopies.
He added that the Speaker himself asked members to rectify these errors.
Home Minister Amit Shah also noted that despite moving the motion, Opposition representatives did not actively participate in the scheduled debate on March 9, which the Business Advisory Council had fixed for discussion.
