Xiaomi’s newly introduced 17 series, unveiled earlier this year in China, may soon see selected models entering the Indian market.
The series includes the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, all powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
Industry sources report that Xiaomi will launch the standard Xiaomi 17 and the upcoming Xiaomi 17 Ultra in India, while it will keep the Pro models with their distinctive rear secondary displays exclusive to China.
According to a recent post by tipster Yogesh Brar, Xiaomi has already begun testing both models in India. If the timeline holds, the devices could reach Indian consumers by March 2026, marking the brand’s next major flagship launch in the country.
Leaked Features Suggest an Ambitious Ultra Variant
Although Xiaomi has not officially confirmed the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, several leaks have sketched a detailed picture of what the handset may offer.
Reports suggest that the device will feature a 6.9-inch 2K OLED flat display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and will include an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor.
Imaging capabilities appear to be a highlight. Reports suggest a 50MP primary camera with an f/1.6 aperture and next-generation LOFIC technology aimed at boosting clarity and reducing lens glare.
The Ultra could also include a 50MP Samsung JN5 ultra-wide sensor, a 50MP JN5 telephoto lens, and a powerful 200MP Samsung HPE periscope telephoto camera featuring 4×4 RMSC technology for enhanced zoom precision.
A custom full-lens optical system may further improve focusing speed and accuracy, while reports suggest that a 50MP OmniVision OV50M sensor will power the front camera.
Brar added that the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Pro Max are unlikely to leave the Chinese market, mirroring the company’s approach to earlier flagship Pro variants. These devices were launched alongside the base model in September.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi has confirmed that HyperOS 3, its Android 16-based operating system, will roll out in India in the coming months. Analysts widely expect the Xiaomi 17 series to be among the first devices in the country to run the updated software.
