PM Modi To Pay Tribute To Sardar Patel; Lead Ekta Diwas Parade In Gujarat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day visit to Gujarat on Thursday to commemorate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), marking the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister.

The event at Ekta Nagar in Kevadia, home to the Statue of Unity, will combine tributes, development, and national pride.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), PM Modi will reach Ekta Nagar on Thursday for the first leg of his visit.

He will flag off electric buses and inaugurate and lay foundation stones for a series of development projects worth approximately ₹1,140 crore, aimed at strengthening tourism and promoting sustainable infrastructure.

Among the significant initiatives are the Birsa Munda Tribal University in Rajpipla, Hospitality District (Phase I) at Garudeshwar, Vaman Vriksha Vatika, Satpuda Protection Wall, and an E-Bus Charging Depot with 25 electric buses.

Other projects include the Narmada Ghat Extension, Kaushalya Path, and Smart Bus Stops (Phase-II), which will enhance the eco-friendly mobility network around the Statue of Unity.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate attractions such as a Dam Replica Fountain, GSEC Quarters, and a scenic walkway from Ekta Dwar to Shreshtha Bharat Bhavan (Phase-II).

Foundation Stones for Future Growth

PM Modi will lay the foundation stones for several upcoming landmark projects, including the Museum of Royal Kingdoms of India, Veer Balak Udyan, Sports Complex, Rainforest Project, Jetty Development near Shoolpaneshwar Ghat, and Travelators at the Statue of Unity Complex.

These initiatives aim to enhance the visitor experience and promote holistic and sustainable development in the region.

During the celebrations, PM Modi will release a special ₹150 commemorative coin and a postage stamp in honour of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The gesture pays homage to Patel’s historic role in unifying over 560 princely states to build the modern Indian nation.

On Thursday morning, the Prime Minister will offer floral tributes to Patel at the Statue of Unity and administer the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge, reaffirming India’s collective commitment to unity, integrity, and internal security.

Ekta Diwas Parade and Honours

The highlight of the event will be the Ekta Diwas Parade, featuring contingents from the BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB, along with various state police forces.

This year’s parade will showcase unique formations, including a BSF contingent of indigenous Indian dog breeds such as Rampur Hounds and Mudhol Hounds, the Gujarat Police Horse Contingent, and the Assam Police Motorcycle Daredevil Show.

The BSF Camel Contingent, with its renowned Camel Mounted Band, will also participate.

The event will also honour five Shaurya Chakra awardees from the CRPF and 16 gallantry medal recipients from the BSF for their valour in anti-Naxal operations in Jharkhand and counter-terrorism missions in Jammu and Kashmir.

BSF personnel recognised for exemplary courage during Operation Sindoor will also be felicitated.

Through his visit, PM Modi aims to highlight Sardar Patel’s enduring legacy while reaffirming the government’s vision of unity, progress, and inclusive national development.
