Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil and lay the foundation for a series of agricultural and allied sector projects valued at more than Rs 42,000 crore on Saturday, marking one of the government’s most extensive drives to boost rural development and farm productivity.

According to an official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the Prime Minister will roll out two flagship agricultural schemes worth Rs 35,440 crore.

The first, the PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, accounts for Rs 24,000 crore and seeks to enhance farm output, promote crop diversification, and support environmentally sustainable cultivation methods.

“It has the objective of enhancing agricultural productivity, increasing adoption of crop diversification and sustainable agriculture practices, augmenting post-harvest storage at the panchayat and block level, improving irrigation facilities and facilitating availability of long-term and short-term credit in the selected 100 districts,” the statement noted.

Alongside this, PM Modi will introduce the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, a Rs 11,440-crore programme designed to increase pulse productivity, extend the cultivation area, and reinforce every stage of the value chain, from procurement and storage to processing, while reducing losses after harvest.

In addition to these, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and dedicate projects worth over Rs 5,450 crore covering agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and food processing.

He will also lay foundation stones for new initiatives amounting to nearly Rs 815 crore.

The Prime Minister is likely to attend a Krishi programme at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) in New Delhi, where he will interact with farmers and later address a public gathering.

The PMO stated, “The programme underscores the Prime Minister’s continued commitment to farmer welfare, agricultural self-reliance, and strengthening rural infrastructure. It will focus on promoting modern agricultural practices, supporting farmers, and celebrating significant milestones in farmer-centric initiatives.”

Key Projects to Be Inaugurated

Among the projects inaugurated are Artificial Insemination Training Centres in Bengaluru and Jammu & Kashmir; Centres of Excellence in Amreli and Banas; an IVF Laboratory in Assam under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission; and Milk Powder Plants in Mehsana, Indore, and Bhilwara.

The Prime Minister will also unveil a Fish Feed Plant at Tezpur, Assam, under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, along with facilities for Agro-Processing Clusters, Integrated Cold Chains, and Value Addition Infrastructure.

He will also lay the foundation for upcoming ventures, including Integrated Cold Chain and Value Addition Infrastructure (Irradiation) in Krishna, Andhra Pradesh; Trout Fisheries in Uttarakhand; an Integrated Aqua Park in Nagaland; a Smart and Integrated Fishing Harbour in Karaikal, Puducherry; and a state-of-the-art Integrated Aquapark in Hirakud, Odisha.

During the day’s events, the Prime Minister is likely to interact with farmers engaged in pulse production who have benefited from several government schemes promoting an integrated, value-driven approach across agriculture, animal husbandry, and fisheries.
