A Heartfelt Meeting
During his visit, Adani offered floral tributes at the late singer’s residence and met his wife, Garima Saikia Garg.
The interaction, though brief, was deeply emotional, reflecting the vast influence of Zubeen Garg’s legacy, which united communities across Assam and the wider Northeast.
Sources said the Adani Group conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and expressed solidarity with the people of Assam during this moment of shared loss.
Zubeen Garg, celebrated for his versatility across Assamese, Hindi, Bengali, and other regional languages, tragically passed away on 19 September following a scuba diving accident in Singapore. Despite emergency rescue and intensive medical care, doctors could not save him.
He had travelled to Singapore for the fourth North East India Festival at Suntec, scheduled for 20 and 21 September.
Only hours before the tragedy, the singer had extended a warm invitation to fans on social media.
A Legacy of Music and Emotion
Zubeen Garg rose to nationwide fame with the iconic Bollywood song Ya Ali from Gangster (2006), while remaining the cultural voice of Assam through numerous Assamese hits.
His artistry spanned genres, languages, and emotions, making him one of the most beloved musicians of the region.
The singer’s personal life was marked by both triumph and tragedy. In 2002, his younger sister Jongki Borthakur, also a singer and actress, died in a car accident.
Zubeen honoured her memory with the heartfelt album Xixhu and is remembered by his wife, Garima Saikia Garg, a renowned fashion designer.
Zubeen’s passing has left an unfillable void in Indian music, with tributes pouring in from fans, artists, and leaders alike.
