S Jaishankar reaffirmed BRICS’s significance in driving dialogue, diplomacy and collaborative stability efforts in a fragile world order.
Jaishankar declared that the time has come to reform the United Nations Security Council.
Its present composition, drawn up after World War II, gives permanent status to five powers – China, Russia, France, Britain and the US.
Meanwhile denying India, the world’s largest democracy and an emerging economic heavyweight, its rightful seat.
He reaffirmed India’s demand for restructuring, arguing that only a reformed council can reflect today’s geopolitical truth.
The minister also addressed the call for equity in international trade, especially as protectionist policies and tariffs increase barriers.
Calling technology and innovation vital for modern prosperity, Jaishankar pressed for stronger partnerships in these fields.
India’s stewardship of BRICS will emphasise vital priorities: safeguarding food supplies, ensuring energy security, addressing climate change, fostering digital ecosystems, advancing innovation and promoting durable growth across the Global South.
S Jaishankar stressed India’s role in steering BRICS toward a renewed vision and constructive global influence.
He ended the meeting by highlighting BRICS’s focus on peace and talking openly between nations.
Jaishankar promised India would help solve global problems, grow economies and build partnerships.
The gathering agreed on fighting terrorism, improving systems, and working together for safety and economic balance.
