PM Narendra Modi on Saturday asserted that Odisha is surging ahead under the strength of the double-engine government, fulfilling the mandate of achieving a ‘Viksit Odisha’ taken by the people during the Assembly elections 18 months ago.
At Amalipali Ground in Jharsuguda, PM Modi announced the launch of projects worth thousands of crores to develop Odisha and the country.
He assured that the pace of development in Odisha will accelerate further.
PM Modi emphasised that his government remains committed to serving and empowering the poor. “Our focus is on delivering basic amenities to Dalits, Backwards Classes, and tribal communities,” he said, noting that the day’s programme reflects this commitment.
He expressed faith in the capabilities and talent of Odisha’s youth, adding that nature has blessed the state abundantly. While Odisha endured decades of poverty, the Prime Minister affirmed that the coming decade would usher in prosperity for its people.
The Prime Minister announced that the Central Government recently approved two semiconductor units in Odisha and plans to establish a semiconductor park, crediting the state’s youth for driving this initiative. He envisioned a future where chips used in phones, televisions, refrigerators, computers, and cars will be manufactured in Odisha.
BSNL 4G Launch to Expand Connectivity
PM Modi announced that BSNL is launching its indigenous 4G network from Jharsuguda, installing nearly one lakh towers to enhance connectivity across remote regions. This initiative will directly benefit over two crore people, connecting approximately 30,000 previously unconnected villages to high-speed Internet.
The Prime Minister underscored Odisha’s agricultural strength and tribal population, noting significant tax relief measures under GST.
Farmers now save approximately ₹40,000 on tractor purchases due to reduced taxation, and the government has cut GST on kendu leaves to ensure better prices for collectors.
PM Modi highlighted Odisha’s modern infrastructure projects, including:
- Six Vande Bharat trains are currently operational in the state
- Modernisation underway at nearly 60 railway stations
- VSS Airport in Jharsuguda is now connected to major Indian cities
- Increased revenue from minerals and mining
He emphasised that the government continues to work for the nation’s strength and citizen prosperity through initiatives like tax relief, modern connectivity, and industrial development.
