Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Saturday set a bold vision for the state’s future, declaring that Uttar Pradesh will become a $6 trillion economy by 2047.
He made the announcement while addressing the Viksit Uttar Pradesh Vision @ 2047 conclave in Lucknow.
“By 2047, Uttar Pradesh will become a $6 trillion economy. That year will mark the fulfilment of the hopes and aspirations of our citizens. A developed Uttar Pradesh is not just our resolution—it must become part of our daily routine,” Yogi said.
The Chief Minister said the state’s growth story was ‘unbelievable for those who lack masculinity’, crediting peace and security as the foundation of rapid development. He highlighted his government’s zero-tolerance policy against nepotism, casteism, and corruption, adding that such practices had pushed UP into the ‘BIMARU’ category in the past.
“Uttar Pradesh was never inherently a BIMARU state. It was pushed into that category by nepotism, caste politics, and a sick mentality,” he remarked.
CAG Report Highlights Fiscal Strength
Referring to the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, Yogi said the state’s revenue surplus had risen sharply from ₹37,000 crore in 2023 to ₹70,000 crore now. “A state with such a large population is executing development projects without obstruction,” he said.
He credited the turnaround to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, faith in God, and the collective efforts of the people.
Yogi emphasised India’s geographical and agricultural potential, noting that 60% of its land is cultivable compared to only 20% in Russia, China, and the United States.
“While America is geographically larger, India has equal arable land. Our fertile soil and ancient civilisation made us a global leader,” he said.
Placing development in historical context, Yogi said India once held 40% of the world’s economy during Chandragupta Maurya’s rule, 30% in the 11th century, and 25% in the 17th century before British colonial exploitation reduced it drastically.
“Foreign slavery plundered us, but today we are rising again. In 1947, India’s share of the world economy was just 2%. By 2014, we were the 11th largest economy. Today we are the fourth, and this financial year, India will become the third largest economy,” he asserted.
The Chief Minister said India’s agricultural capacity could triple in the coming years. “We have laid the foundation—now is the time to build a strong edifice,” he declared.
On the occasion, Yogi extended Navratri greetings, released the book “8 Years of UP Government”, and presented the state’s achievements as part of its development story.
