PM Modi To Launch Development Projects Worth ₹34,200 Crore In Gujarat, Boosting Maritime & Infrastructure Growth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat on 20th September, beginning his schedule at around 10:30 AM in Bhavnagar, where he will participate in the ‘Samudra se Samriddhi’ event.

On this occasion, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth over ₹34,200 crore and address the gathering.

A key highlight of the visit is a strong push for India’s maritime sector. PM Modi will launch development initiatives worth more than ₹7,870 crore, which include the inauguration of the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal at Indira Dock.

He will also lay the foundation stone for several major port projects: a container terminal at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata; new berth and cargo facilities at Paradip Port; the Tuna Tekra Multi-Cargo Terminal; modern road connectivity and firefighting facilities at Kamarajar Port, Ennore; coastal protection works at Chennai Port; sea-wall construction at Car Nicobar; a Green Bio-Methanol Plant and multi-purpose cargo berth at Deendayal Port, Kandla; and new ship repair facilities in Patna and Varanasi.

Infrastructure and Energy Projects

Beyond maritime development, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for central and state government projects worth over ₹26,354 crore across Gujarat.

These include:

  • Energy Sector: HPLNG Regasification Terminal at Chhara Port, Acrylics & Oxo Alcohol Project at Gujarat IOCL Refinery, the 600 MW Green Shoe Initiative, the PM-KUSUM 475 MW Component C solar feeder for farmers, and the 45 MW Badeli Solar PV Project.
  • Sustainable Development: Complete solarisation of Dhordo village, along with additional renewable energy and LNG infrastructure projects.
  • Healthcare and Transport: Expansions at Sir T General Hospital in Bhavnagar and Guru Govind Sinh Government Hospital at Jamnagar, as well as the four-laning of 70 km of national highways.

These projects reflect the Prime Minister’s emphasis on holistic development, balancing industrial growth with renewable energy, healthcare, and connectivity.

Dholera and Lothal Review

Later in the day, PM Modi will undertake an aerial survey of the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), envisioned as India’s first greenfield industrial city designed around smart infrastructure, sustainable industrialisation, and global investment opportunities.

At around 1:30 PM, he will chair a review meeting and visit the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NHMC) at Lothal.

With an investment of nearly ₹4,500 crore, NHMC aims to showcase India’s ancient maritime heritage while serving as a hub for tourism, research, education, and skill development.

PM Modi’s Gujarat visit underscores his government’s focus on sustainable growth, infrastructure modernisation, and maritime strength.

With projects spanning ports, energy, healthcare, and smart cities, the initiatives are expected to enhance Gujarat’s role as a gateway for global trade and investment while creating employment opportunities and supporting long-term economic growth.
