Visakhapatnam witnessed a large gathering on Sunday as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda addressed a public meeting marking the culmination of the Saradhyam Yatra led by the party’s Andhra Pradesh unit president, PVN Madhav.

Nadda stated that with 14 crore members, including two crore active members, the BJP is the largest political party in the world.

He added that with 240 Lok Sabha members, around 1,500 MLAs and more than 170 MLCs, the BJP represents the widest political footprint in the country.

According to him, the party heads the NDA governments in 20 states, with 13 of these under BJP leadership, making it ‘the largest representative party in the country’.

Nadda urged BJP workers to see themselves as shapers of India’s future.

“We are the ones who will guide the nation towards a Viksit Bharat under the mantra Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas,” he said.

He stated that the 11 years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership have brought progress across sectors, marking a shift from what he described as the ‘family-centric, corrupt and non-performing politics’ of previous governments to a politics of ‘performance and accountability’.

The BJP, he said, remains anchored in its ideological base and has fulfilled major commitments such as scrapping Article 370, constructing the Ram temple, repealing triple talaq, and amending the Waqf Board Act.

Economic Growth and Reforms

Nadda highlighted India’s economic rise, recalling that when the NDA came to power at the Centre in 2014, India ranked 11th in the world economy and has now become the fourth largest.

He expressed confidence that India would soon become the third-largest economy, citing the International Monetary Fund’s recent description of India as a ‘bright spot’.

He also referred to GST 2.0 reforms and said the PM Modi government had provided people with a ‘Diwali and Dussehra gift’ by reducing two of the four GST slabs.

Turning to Andhra Pradesh, Nadda alleged that the previous government of the YSR Congress Party was corrupt and failed to deliver governance.

He thanked citizens for responding to Prime Minister Modi’s call to bring the NDA to power in the state.

He detailed the Centre’s contributions, including Rs 15,000 crore for the construction of Amaravati’s capital city, doubling the length of national highways, and Rs 3,500 crore allocated for urban development under the AMRUT scheme.

The government is developing Kakinada, Tirupati and Amaravati as smart cities and is constructing 14 ports, including Bhogapuram, for which it has sanctioned Rs 625 crore. It has also granted Andhra Pradesh the South Coastal Railway Zone and is establishing new central institutions to transform the state into an education hub.
