Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Manipur carried both symbolic and practical significance. As he landed at Imphal Airport, relentless rain and overcast skies greeted him instead of sunshine.
The heavy downpour severely limited aerial travel, and officials soon confirmed that helicopter transport to Churachandpur—his scheduled rally destination—was not possible due to unfavourable weather conditions.
Despite the challenges, the Prime Minister’s determination did not waver. With the rally venue situated approximately 1.5 hours away by road, many would have expected a cancellation or rescheduling.
However, PM Modi made it clear that he was committed to interacting with the people of Churachandpur—regardless of the rain, the road, or the risk.

Nevertheless, PM Modi insisted that he would reach the venue, even if the journey took longer than expected.
Officials accompanying him were reportedly moved by his insistence on continuing with the trip.
“The people are waiting, and I must meet them,” he is believed to have said. His commitment to public outreach and grassroots connection has remained a defining feature of his leadership style.

Upon reaching Churachandpur, PM Modi addressed a large gathering of enthusiastic citizens who had also braved the weather to hear him speak.
