Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited on Tuesday at 12:30 PM.

As part of the launch, the Prime Minister will transfer Rs 105 crore directly into the cooperative’s bank account, giving the institution a solid financial base.

The new body, however, aims to provide affordable and accessible financial services to women associated with Jeevika, Bihar’s flagship rural livelihoods scheme.

All registered Cluster-Level Federations under Jeevika will be part of this cooperative, jointly supported by the Government of Bihar and the Central Government.

Thousands of women associated with Jeevika’s self-help groups have become rural entrepreneurs over the years, establishing small businesses and production units across the state.

Yet many continued to depend on microfinance institutions that charged high interest rates of 18 to 24 per cent.

The Jeevika Nidhi seeks to change this by offering larger loans at significantly lower rates, easing reliance on expensive credit sources.

The cooperative will function entirely on a digital platform, ensuring quick and transparent transactions.

Around 12,000 community cadres are being trained and equipped with tablets to help Jeevika women, or ‘Didis’, access and manage financial services.

The initiative will likely deepen financial inclusion, empower rural women, and encourage community-driven entrepreneurship.

Nearly two million women across Bihar are likely to join the inauguration virtually, reflecting the scale of grassroots participation.

The Jeevika Nidhi Federation, however, marks a milestone in building an inclusive and self-reliant rural economy in Bihar, anchored in women’s empowerment and cooperative strength.
