India Post Ties Up With 120 Countries To Support Varanasi Exports

India Post has tied up with 120 countries to ease Varanasi exports, offering faster delivery, customs support, and discounts.

India Post has signed agreements with 120 countries to make Varanasi exports easier. Officials discussed the initiative in a meeting with business persons at the Varanasi postal region on Tuesday.

The session highlighted the role of international and domestic postal services in trade. The meeting provided detailed information on the services of India Post, with a focus on facilities for exporters.

Representatives from business institutions, banks, self-employment groups, and local traders attended.

Meanwhile, officials urged participants from industry and trade to prioritise postal services, as this would not only enable faster parcel delivery but also help strengthen exports.

Postmaster General of Varanasi region, Colonel Vinod Kumar, said Varanasi exports can be supported through the postal export centre. He further added that superintendents are encouraging exporters and startup units are being promoted to create jobs for the youth.

Export Services and Benefits

Swarna, founder of Organic Vardan, said her organisation produces food items, including sattu, and plans to send them abroad using India Post services.

Colonel Vinod further explained that under the ITPS service, a one-kg parcel can be shipped to Australia, Canada, Japan, and England for about Rs 1,500. Articles weighing up to 35 kg can be sent to over 100 countries via International Speed Post.

Assistant Director Atul said customs clearance is handled easily at the postal export centre. Inspector Sanjeev confirmed that postal export centres operate in all districts.

Ruchi, in charge of the International Business Centre at Varanasi Cantt, said discounts of up to 16% are available under the AMS service depending on export volume, and compensation is provided for losses.

Addressing Delivery Challenges

The meeting also addressed challenges in international postal delivery. Officials discussed delays, tracking issues, and customs clearance problems.

Additionally, feedback was collected from exporters to shape strategies for service improvement.

Officials emphasised that the goal is to enhance cooperation between the postal department and its business clients. They added that the focus remains on transparency and effective service delivery.
