‘Nuclear Sabre Rattle Is Pakistan’s Stock-In-Trade’: MEA On Asim Munir’s Anti-India Rhetoric In US

India on Monday condemned Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir’s threats, calling its nuclear blackmail a ‘stock-in-trade’ tactic.

Following Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir’s recent threats, India on Monday called out Islamabad for its repeated nuclear blackmail policy, saying, “Nuclear Sabre rattle is Pakistan’s stock-in-trade.”

External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, in a statement, reiterated that New Delhi will not succumb to nuclear blackmail and will utilise all available means to ensure the country’s safety and national security.

“India has already made it clear that it will not give in to nuclear blackmail. We will continue to take all necessary steps to safeguard our national security,” the ministry said.

Speaking at a gathering of Pakistani-origin people in Tampa, Florida, Munir reportedly threatened to use nuclear weapons against India. He also claimed Pakistan could target ‘half of the world’ if faced with an existential threat.

This warning was made in the context of any future conflict with India.

Munir was made Field Marshal four days after the conflict with India in May. He reportedly said Pakistan would launch missiles to destroy any dams built by India on rivers flowing into Pakistan. This came after New Delhi put the Indus Water Treaty in abeyance.

Jaiswal said it is ‘regrettable’ that such comments against India were made on US soil.

“It is also regrettable that these remarks should have been made from the soil of a friendly third country,” he noted.

“The international community can draw its own conclusions on the irresponsibility inherent in such remarks, which also reinforce the well-held doubts about the integrity of nuclear command and control in a state where the military is hand-in-glove with terrorist groups,” Jaiswal added.

Experts Cautions India

People familiar with the developments cautioned India against fresh threats of Pakistani-sponsored terror attacks inside the country. They pointed out a pattern in Pakistan’s nefarious activities.

The Pahalgam attack took place less than a week after Asim Munir’s speech in Islamabad. In that speech, he described Kashmir as Pakistan’s ‘Jugular Vein’. He also claimed that Hindus and Muslims cannot live together.
