The Indian Armed Forces on Monday refuted social media reports that falsely claimed to reveal details about the identities and background of the Pahalgam attackers.

The Integrated Defence Staff (IDS) strongly cautioned against such misinformation and urged the public to ignore unauthorised documents circulating online.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the IDS clarified, “No authorised media handle of the Armed Forces has prepared or issued any such document.”

Armed Forces Reject Fake Claims

The statement further said, “No remarks of this nature have been made by the Armed Forces Public Relations Offices / nominated Spokespersons.”

The clarification came after several social media accounts shared an alleged report claiming to detail the identities of the Pahalgam attackers.

The Armed Forces categorically denied any involvement in its creation or circulation.

Public Urged to Stay Alert

The IDS urged citizens to remain cautious and verify information from official defence channels only.

The message concluded with a warning, “Stay Alert! Stay Informed!”

The Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of External Affairs, and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting also amplified the alert on social media.

The Armed Forces emphasised that spreading unverified or fake claims can mislead the public and hamper national security efforts, especially during sensitive situations like the Pahalgam attack.
