Union Home and Cooperative Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the Cooperative and Employment Festival in Dadiya village, located on the outskirts of Jaipur, on Thursday.
The event forms part of India’s participation in the International Cooperative Year 2025, as declared by the United Nations General Assembly, and highlights the Centre’s focus on strengthening grassroots economic models.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma will also attend the event.
This marks Shah’s official engagement in a government programme as Union Minister for Cooperation. CM Sharma had formally invited Shah during a meeting in New Delhi on 29 May.
The Centre has selected Rajasthan as one of the key states to host this initiative, aligning with its strategy of delegating 54 cooperative-related responsibilities to state administrations.
Highlighting Cooperative Achievements
As part of the Cooperative Conference segment, Amit Shah will inspect an exhibition displaying a wide range of products developed by cooperative institutions.
Demonstrating the government’s commitment to sustainable farming and food security, Shah will also virtually inaugurate 24 food grain storage warehouses and 64 dedicated millets outlets throughout the state.
The Employment Festival, running alongside the main event, will see Shah handing out appointment letters to newly recruited candidates for government positions.
He will also interact with selected beneficiaries and job seekers from four districts, highlighting the Centre’s focus on creating job opportunities and supporting skill development.
Ahead of the festival, Rajasthan’s Cooperative Minister Gautam Kumar Dak conducted an extensive review of the venue on Tuesday.
He held discussions with key administrative, police, and departmental officials to ensure all arrangements were in place.
Dak urged all departments to work collaboratively and to ensure adequate facilities such as seating, drinking water, and refreshments—including tea, biscuits, and buttermilk—were provided for attendees.
The Cooperative and Employment Festival is expected to attract widespread participation from cooperative organisations, local entrepreneurs, and stakeholders across Rajasthan.
It serves as a critical platform to promote cooperative success stories and support the employment ecosystem.
This initiative supports the government’s broader objective to foster inclusive growth, empower rural communities, and establish cooperatives as a key pillar of economic development in India.
