After months of waiting, the Supreme Court of the US permitted President Donald Trump to dismantle the Department of Education.

According to Xinhua news agency, the Supreme Court scrapped the district judge’s order to reinstate terminated employees in mass layoffs. This happened in a 6-3 emergency ruling.

The district judge of the US, Boston, Myong Joun, feels that the layoffs will likely cripple the department.

Judge Myong ordered the Republican Party of Trump to reinstate employees who lost their jobs due to the mass layoffs at the department, as nearly 1,400 workers are affected due to this. This happened on May 22 in Boston.

This makes President Trump win for not the first but the second time from the Supreme Court within a week. Before this, the court lifted the barrier for the US President to reduce the federal workforce. Nevertheless lower court rejected the appeals.

This plan of the president is to create a stronger grasp on the states and lower the powers of the federal government.

People harshly object to this. A group of 21 Democratic attorneys general, along with school districts and unions, have pressed legal charges to shut down the US President’s efforts to shrink the Education Department, as it can create quarrels in the working of the administration of the department.

The Department of Education was established by Congress in the year 1979. It presents roles such as taking charge of college roles, monitoring student performances, and providing civil rights in schools. Also, to provide funding to differently abled students.
