CM Yogi Calls For Harsh Punishment In Conversion Racket;

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday issued a strong statement against the alleged mastermind of a religious conversion racket, Jalaluddin alias Chhangur Baba, describing his activities as both anti-social and anti-national.

The Chief Minister assured the public that his government would not tolerate such threats to the state’s social fabric and religious harmony.

Taking to social media, CM Yogi vowed that stern action would be taken against all those involved, stating, “The abominable act is not just anti-social but anti-national. There will be no compromise on law and order. We are committed to ensuring justice.”

Gang members arrested by ATS

The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested Jalaluddin and his accomplice Neetu alias Nasreen, both from Madhpur in Balrampur district.

Following their arrest, the ATS uncovered the religious conversion racket.

The court issued a non-bailable warrant against Jalaluddin, and the police announced a reward of ₹50,000 for information leading to his capture.

The police have accused Jalaluddin of running a widespread operation, allegedly luring more than 40 girls from Hindu and other non-Muslim communities into converting to Islam.

Shocking details emerged from the investigation, including claims that he maintained a ‘rate list’ for conversions and used financial incentives to target vulnerable women.

Firm stance on women’s safety

CM Yogi reiterated his government’s firm commitment to the dignity and safety of women, stating, “There is no place in Uttar Pradesh for those who disrupt peace, harmony, and the safety of our sisters and daughters. They will be punished in a manner that becomes an example for society.”

He also confirmed that the state would begin proceedings to confiscate the properties of those involved in the racket.

This includes both the prime accused and others linked to the gang.

The Chief Minister emphasised that the government would take all action strictly under the law.

Public reaction & legal measures

The revelation of the racket has triggered widespread public outrage, with citizens across the state demanding immediate and exemplary punishment.

Police in multiple districts have filed FIRs against the accused.

The reports detail how they allegedly manipulated women into conversions with money, marriage, and false promises.

The Uttar Pradesh government responded swiftly and publicly, demonstrating its resolve to maintain communal harmony.

It aims to protect vulnerable communities from exploitation.

As investigations continue, the state government plans to push for fast-track trials and make further arrests.

CM Yogi’s clear messaging reflects a zero-tolerance policy towards forced religious conversions and activities that threaten national unity.
