On Tuesday, President Droupadi Murmu will unveil a series of vital infrastructure initiatives at Mahayogi Gorakhnath University in Gorakhpur, marking a momentous occasion for the region.

Her visit will be historically notable, as she becomes the first Indian President to undertake a 92-kilometre road tour across Gorakhpur district.

The route includes key educational and spiritual sites such as the newly established Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH University and the revered Gorakhnath Temple.

As per the official schedule, President Murmu’s day will commence with the inauguration of Uttar Pradesh’s first AYUSH University, situated in Pipri Bhathat. She will then proceed to the Gorakhnath Temple to offer prayers and receive prasad.

A brief rest is scheduled for the President at the Circuit House before she continues to the Arogyadham campus of Mahayogi Gorakhnath University in Sonbarsa at 4:00 PM.

There, she will inaugurate a new academic building, auditorium, and Panchakarma Centre.

In a bid to support inclusive education, she will also lay the foundation stone for a new girls’ hostel.

Guided by the vision of its founder and Chancellor, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Mahayogi Gorakhnath University aspires to merge contemporary learning with India’s traditional knowledge systems, particularly in AYUSH-based healthcare and wellness education.

The President’s Gorakhpur engagement follows a busy Monday, during which she presided over the first convocation of AIIMS-Gorakhpur.

Addressing young medical professionals, she stressed the need to serve rural and tribal populations still deprived of adequate healthcare. She also participated in the convocation at the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) in Bareilly.

At AIIMS, President Murmu highlighted the value of empathy, compassion, and communication in medicine, urging educational institutions to instil these qualities early in medical training to build trust and integrity in the healthcare system.
