Ram Temple In Ayodhya Draws Over 55 Million Devotees Since Consecration

Since the consecration of Lord Ram at the Ram Temple on January 22, 2024, Ayodhya has witnessed a massive influx of over 55 million visitors, transforming the historic city into a major global religious destination, the Uttar Pradesh government confirmed in a statement on Friday.

VIPs join millions in paying homage

Alongside millions of pilgrims from across India and abroad, nearly 450,000 VIPs, including Union ministers, state governors, chief ministers, and celebrities from the entertainment, business, and sports worlds, have visited the temple to seek blessings.

Among those present at the inauguration ceremony were Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.

More recently, Govinda, Anushka Sharma, and Virat Kohli also offered prayers at the temple.

CM Yogi Adityanath ensures seamless darshan experience

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to streamline arrangements for both ordinary devotees and VIPs, ensuring smooth and convenient access to darshan.

“Every visitor, regardless of their status, should experience a hassle-free pilgrimage,” the statement emphasised.

Ayodhya sees infrastructure overhaul

To meet rising footfall, the Uttar Pradesh government has significantly enhanced public transport connectivity and infrastructure. With its modern facilities and spiritual appeal, Ayodhya is fast emerging as a major global spiritual and cultural hub.

The presence of international dignitaries at the consecration event marked a milestone in Ayodhya’s transformation, encouraging a steady stream of high-profile visitors, including repeat visits by several governors and their families.

In a recent highlight, Errol Musk, father of tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, along with his sister, visited the Ram Temple. Dressed in traditional Indian attire, Musk described the visit as a ‘wonderful experience’.

Administration strengthens safety and access

Divisional Commissioner Gaurav Dayal confirmed the 55 million footfall, noting that the majority of visitors were pilgrims. He assured that the administration is committed to maintaining safety, order, and comfort in line with established security protocols.

With Lord Ram now seated on the temple’s first floor, officials expect even greater turnout in the coming months.

To manage the growing crowds efficiently, temple authorities have introduced an online pass system, offering structured darshan slots for both general visitors and VIPs, ensuring accessibility and convenience for all.
