The election process for the High Court Bar Association executive at Allahabad has reached a key phase, with officials completing scrutiny of the voter list.
The final list will be released today, 25 June. A total of 9199 voters will elect the 28-member Bar Executive.
Officials reviewed all objections received on the provisional list of 6738 voters. They received 3052 objections.
After review, they found 2672 objections valid and added those names to the final list. They rejected 1059 objections for not meeting the eligibility rules.
Chief Election Officer and Senior Advocate RK Ojha shared the details with the legal press. He said that 78 members who filed objections have pending fee dues.
Also, 128 members registered on 31 March 2022 have not completed three years, which is required for voting rights.
Ojha added that 29 members paid the bar fee after the deadline of 13 June 2025. Another 33 members did not submit the required declaration.
The committee also found 791 members who failed to meet the minimum number of case requirements. As a result, they were excluded from the final list.
Objections scrutinised, ineligible members excluded
The committee declared 211 members of the Advocate Association ineligible under the ‘one person, one vote’ rule.
The officials reviewed the list again and added some eligible members who had not raised objections.
The final voter list now has 6806 male and 394 female voters. This includes 73 senior advocates, 1050 male and 67 female state law officers, and 783 male and 26 female members with 30 years of legal practice.
The election committee includes Senior Advocates RK Ojha, Anil Bhushan, Vashisht Tiwari, and Mahendra Bahadur Singh. They have finalised the list after thorough verification.
Committee enforces Code of Conduct strictly
The election committee has warned all candidates to strictly follow the election code of conduct. They have identified two lawyers who reinstalled hoardings after their removal.
The committee said it would issue notices to them. If they continue to violate rules, the committee will refuse to issue nomination papers.
The code of conduct bans candidates and their supporters from organising feasts or public meetings in the municipal area. They are not allowed to display or distribute promotional material.
However, the committee has allowed brief gatherings for mutual interaction.
The committee will release the final voter list today as scheduled. The election will take place as per the timeline.
The committee urged all participants to cooperate and maintain discipline during the election process of the High Court Bar Association.
