A high-level multi-party Indian parliamentary delegation led by Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule concluded its two-day visit to Qatar, completing the first leg of a four-nation tour under India’s Operation Sindoor diplomatic outreach.
The visit is part of India’s ongoing effort to project a unified national stand against terrorism following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
India Reaffirms Anti-Terror Stand In Qatar
According to the Indian Embassy in Doha, the visit was aimed at highlighting India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism.
The delegation underscored the importance of dismantling cross-border terror infrastructure and eliminating distinctions between terrorists and their supporters.
“Operation Sindoor was calibrated, targeted and proportionate,” the delegation conveyed in various meetings, “demonstrating India’s commitment to countering terrorism without escalating tensions.”
High-Level Meetings With Qatari Leadership
During the visit, the delegation held high-level discussions with senior Qatari officials, including:
- Mohamed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs
- Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Faisal bin Mohammed Al Thani, Minister of State for Interior Affairs
- Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council
The Qatari leadership expressed solidarity with India, reaffirming their own zero-tolerance stance on terrorism and condemning the Pahalgam attack.
The delegation took part in a roundtable hosted by the Middle East Council for Global Affairs, engaging scholars and policy experts on regional and global security issues.
They also interacted with editorial teams from leading Qatari newspapers Al Sharq and Peninsula, ensuring India’s position on terrorism reached the wider Arab audience.
A special community reception held on May 26 brought together Indian expatriates who voiced strong support for India’s anti-terrorism efforts.
The delegation praised the Indian diaspora for promoting values of tolerance, pluralism, and unity, and for rejecting divisive ideologies.
Qatar Reiterates Support For India
The Indian Embassy noted Qatar’s prompt diplomatic backing. On April 23, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strong condemnation of the Pahalgam terror attack.
This was followed by conversations between Qatar’s Amir HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 6, and a subsequent dialogue between the foreign ministers on May 7.

The delegation represents a cross-section of Indian political leadership, including:

- Manish Tewari (MP)
- Anurag Thakur (MP)
- Vikramjit Singh Sahney (MP)
- Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu (MP)
- Former ministers Anand Sharma and V. Muraleedharan
- Former Indian Ambassador to the UN Syed Akbaruddin
With the Qatar leg successfully concluded, the delegation is now en route to South Africa.
India will continue its diplomatic push under Operation Sindoor through upcoming engagements to build global consensus and cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
