Adani Airport Holdings has called off its ground handling agreement with Turkish company Celebi at Mumbai and Ahmedabad airports with immediate effect.
Adani Airports, in a statement, noted that the move followed the government’s withdrawal of Celebi’s security clearance.
The company stated, “We have terminated the ground handling concession agreements with Celebi at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) and Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA).”
“Accordingly, Celebi has directed to immediately hand over to us all ground handling facilities to ensure uninterrupted operations,” it further added.
The company noted that services will continue as usual through alternate ground handling providers.
The spokespersons for Mumbai and Ahmedabad Airports asserted, “All existing employees of Celebi at CSMIA and SVPIA will be transferred to the new ground handling agencies on their existing terms and conditions of employment. Ground handling operations at our airports will remain unaffected. We fully uphold the highest standards of service and national interest.”
This action comes after the Union government officially revoked security clearance for the Turkish firm.
Adani Ends Lounge Deal With DragonPass
Earlier, Adani Airport Holdings also ended its lounge access deal with Turkish company DragonPass, which allowed the firm’s customers entry into airport lounges.
“Our association with DragonPass, which provided access to airport lounges, has terminated with immediate effect. DragonPass customers will no longer have access to lounges at Adani-managed airports. This change will have no impact on the airport lounge and travel experience for other customers,” the Adani Airport Holdings spokesperson further remarked.
The termination of ties with both Turkish firms follows Turkey’s backing of Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attacks and India’s subsequent launch of ‘Operation Sindoor’ in response to the killing of 26 individuals.
According to a notification issued on Thursday, the Ministry of Civil Aviation said the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security had revoked Celebi’s clearance with immediate effect, citing national security concerns.
