Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and former India captain Rohit Sharma will attend the Mumbai Cricket Association’s (MCA) Stand Reveal Ceremony at Wankhede Stadium on Friday. MCA will honour Rohit Sharma, Sharad Pawar, Ajit Wadekar, and former president Amol Kale during the event.
MCA confirmed the Chief Minister’s presence in an official statement. The statement also named Rohit Sharma, MCA president Ajinkya Naik, Apex Council members, and Sharad Pawar as guests at the ceremony.
MCA Approves New Stand Names at AGM
MCA renamed three stands at its 86th Annual General Meeting last month. It renamed Divecha Pavilion Level 3 as the Rohit Sharma Stand. Grand Stand Level 3 will now be the Sharad Pawar Stand. Grand Stand Level 4 becomes the Ajit Wadekar Stand.
“These stands and this lounge will always honour the legacy of Mumbai’s cricketing greats,” said MCA president Naik.
Rohit Sharma Gets Honour After Iconic Career
Rohit Sharma recently retired from Test cricket. He led India to the T20 World Cup 2024 and Champions Trophy 2025 titles. Sharma began his international career in 2007 and helped India win the T20 World Cup that year.
He played 159 T20Is, 273 ODIs, and 67 Tests. He retired from T20Is after winning the World Cup in Barbados last year. Wankhede Stadium now bears his name as a mark of respect.
