India has eliminated 100 terrorists across nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), including three high-profile operatives linked to the Kandahar hijacking and Pulwama attack, senior defence officials said on Sunday.
At a press briefing, Lt General Rajiv Ghai, Vice Admiral AN Pramod, and Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti provided key updates on Operation Sindoor. The officials detailed India’s swift and strategic military response following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians.
Lt Gen Ghai said the May 7 offensive targeted and destroyed terror hideouts in Pakistan and PoK. The Indian Army ensured zero collateral damage, striking only terrorist infrastructure.
He confirmed that India had struck with precision, eliminating 100 terrorists. Among them were three operatives linked to previous major attacks on Indian soil.
Despite an understanding between the nations, Pakistan attempted retaliation with drones and missile systems targeting Indian military bases. Indian forces intercepted these threats and responded with punitive strikes, killing 35 to 40 Pakistani military personnel.
Five Indian soldiers died during the operation. However, Gen Ghai clarified that Pakistan’s armed forces did not breach Indian territory. Indian strikes only targeted verified threats.
Air Marshal Bharti stressed India’s focus remained on eliminating terrorists, not fighting Pakistan’s military. However, India destroyed drones and UAVs that intruded into Indian airspace in Jammu, Udhampur, Pathankot, Dalhousie, and Phalodi.
The Indian Navy also conducted combat drills in the Arabian Sea and maintained surveillance on Pakistan’s naval fleet, forcing it to remain at harbour.
Operation Sindoor hit critical Pakistani assets, including command structures and airbases at Chaklala, Rafiki, and Rahriyar Khan.
Military officials warned that any further aggression from Pakistan would face fierce retaliation. They reiterated India’s intent to ensure peace but underlined that national security remains paramount.
