US Declares ‘Full & Immediate Ceasefire’ Between India, Pak

US President Donald Trump on Saturday declared that India and Pakistan have agreed to a ‘full and immediate ceasefire’ following intense US-brokered diplomatic efforts.

The announcement came through a post on Truth Social, Trump’s social media platform.

US President Trump Credits ‘Common Sense And Great Intelligence’

“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire,” President Trump wrote.

He added, “Congratulations to both countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Although Trump provided no further details on the specifics of the agreement or negotiations, he took credit for facilitating the breakthrough.

Secretary Of State Rubio Confirms Back-Channel Diplomacy

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in an official State Department statement, confirmed the active diplomatic engagement behind the scenes.

He stated that he and Vice President JD Vance had been in continuous contact with Indian and Pakistani leadership over the past 48 hours.

“We have engaged with senior Indian and Pakistani officials, including Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, and National Security Advisors Ajit Doval and Asim Malik,” Rubio said.

Talks To Begin At Neutral Site

Rubio confirmed that both nations have agreed not only to a ceasefire but also to initiate dialogue on a broader set of bilateral issues.

“We commend Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif on their wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace,” Rubio noted.

He emphasised the significance of restarting diplomatic communication channels to prevent future escalations.

US Offers Support Without Formal Mediation

In individual calls with Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and Pakistani official Ishaq Dar, Secretary Rubio offered continued US support in facilitating future conflict-avoidance discussions, while carefully avoiding the term ‘mediation’.

However, President Trump did use the word in his social media post, signalling a more assertive American role in brokering peace.

State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce further elaborated, saying, “Secretary Rubio emphasised that both sides need to identify methods to de-escalate and re-establish direct communication to avoid miscalculation.”

She added that the US would remain ready to assist in initiating productive conversations to prevent future conflicts.
