India carried out precision strikes on eight military locations inside Pakistan late Friday night in response to repeated drone and missile attacks, the government confirmed on Saturday.
The announcement came during a high-level briefing in New Delhi, led by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and two senior military officers, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh.
Wing Commander Singh detailed that the Indian Air Force used air-launched precision munitions and fighter aircraft to hit six major Pakistani military bases: Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunian.
India also targeted a radar site in Pasrur and an aviation base in Sialkot.
Measured & Strategic Response
Wing Commander Singh said the forces carried out the operations with precision and utmost care to avoid civilian casualties or unnecessary collateral damage, while also presenting timestamped satellite images of the targeted sites to counter Pakistan’s denials.
Singh confirmed that India resorted to military retaliation only after Pakistan had launched attacks on multiple Indian air bases, including Udhampur, Pathankot, and Bathinda.
She noted that India targeted only military infrastructure, including radar installations, arms depots, and command centres.
Rising Tensions & Forward Troop Movements
Colonel Qureshi added that Pakistan’s provocative actions and its continued sheltering of terror groups warranted a firm but calculated response.
“We have credible intelligence indicating that Pakistan has moved its troops into forward deployment zones along the border,” she stated.
The government emphasised that the Indian armed forces remain at peak operational readiness and are monitoring developments round the clock.
“Any further hostile action will be dealt with firmly and proportionately,” said Singh.
A Firm Message To Islamabad
Foreign Secretary Misri remarked that ‘Operation Sindoor’ sends a strong signal to Pakistan regarding India’s commitment to national security and its unwillingness to tolerate deliberate escalations.
The Indian response, he added, was ‘defensive, precise, and proportionate’.
The Centre reaffirmed that India does not seek prolonged escalation but will not hesitate to respond to aggression.
With this operation, India has demonstrated both restraint and capability in addressing the evolving threat landscape along its western border.
