Maha Kumbh 2025, a grand celebration of the Sanatan faith, took place in Prayagraj under the leadership of the Prime Minister and the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Over 45 days, the Prayagraj Railway Division and North Central Railway (NCR) efficiently managed the movement of 4.8 crore passengers, operating 17,730 trains to facilitate seamless travel.
Beyond transportation, the NCR’s medical department played a vital role in providing healthcare services to more than 3 lakh devotees at railway stations.
To address medical needs, authorities established 30 first-aid centers and four observation rooms at key locations, with 220 doctors and 170 paramedics working round the clock.
Senior officials, including Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. SM Sharma, Additional Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Ashish Agarwal, and Divisional Medical Officer Dr. Parvez Ahmed, oversaw the medical arrangements to ensure efficient healthcare support throughout the event.
During peak bathing days, railway medical teams treated nearly 3 lakh devotees, with 20,000 patients receiving care in primary health centers and observation rooms at railway stations.
Additionally, authorities referred 334 critical cases to the Central Hospital for advanced treatment.
Dr. SM Sharma noted that the medical teams provided essential care for passengers suffering from cardiac issues, bronchitis, sinus problems, and stress-related ailments due to overcrowding and fatigue.
He emphasized that critical treatments such as CPR, nebulization, and oxygen support were administered to those in need.
To further safeguard devotees’ well-being, railway stations underwent regular sanitation drives, cleanliness campaigns, and mosquito control measures.
With a combination of efficient transport management and robust medical support, North Central Railway played a crucial role in making Maha Kumbh 2025 a safe and well-organized spiritual gathering for millions.
