Tata Communications Appoints N Ganapathy Subramaniam As Chairman

Tata Communications Ltd’s Board has approved the appointment of N Ganapathy Subramaniam as Chairman of the Board of Directors, effective 14 March 2025.

Subramaniam joined the company’s Board as a non-executive director on 2 December 2021.

He has been a key figure in the Indian IT sector for over 40 years, having previously served as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) before stepping down in May 2024.

Tata Communications confirmed that the appointment was based on the recommendation of its Nomination and Remuneration Committee.

As per the company statement, “He has played a strategic role in several landmark initiatives that TCS undertook across banking, telecom and public services globally. He has in-depth knowledge on technology, operations, product development, business transformation and change management as organizations manage their technology and business.”

“As a thought leader, he has spoken in global conferences and actively interacts to shape opinion across industry and the government,” the statement further added.

Leadership Beyond Tata Communications

In addition to his new role at Tata Communications, Subramaniam serves as chairman and non-executive director at Tata Elxsi and Tejas Networks.

He also chairs the Governing Council of Bharat6G Alliance and holds memberships in institutions such as Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology and The Society for the Rehabilitation of Crippled Children in Mumbai.

Tata Communications posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 236 crore for the quarter ending December 2024, marking a significant year-on-year surge of 424 percent.

In comparison, the company’s net profit during the same period last year was Rs 45 crore.

According to its regulatory filing, the company’s operational revenues reached Rs 5,798 crore for the December 2024 quarter, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 3.8 percent from the Rs 5,587.78 crore reported in the same quarter of FY2023-24.

On a sequential basis, Tata Communications’ net profit rose by 4 percent in the October-December quarter, up from Rs 227 crore in the July-September period.

Revenue also recorded a 1.2 percent sequential growth between Q2 and Q3 of FY25.
