
The Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply Department’s ‘Swachh Sujal Gaon’ at Maha Kumbh 2025 left a lasting impression on over 30 lakh visitors, who were deeply moved by the warm reception and the transformation of Uttar Pradesh under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership.
The event highlighted the remarkable development in the state, with a focus on water conservation, rural prosperity, and spiritual enrichment.
Engaging The Youth And Celebrating Water Conservation
One of the standout events was the ‘Nal Se Jal’ quiz competition, where 10,229 young participants were recognized for their knowledge on water-related issues.
In addition, more than 3.60 lakh people participated in the digital ‘Jal Jeevan Mission: The Water Run’ games, which ran from February 14 to 26, further raising awareness about water conservation practices.

In keeping with India’s tradition of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava,’ the Yogi government also presented ‘Jal Prasad’ to 25 lakh guests as a token of hospitality.
These eco-friendly jute-cloth bags contained sacred Sangam water, a Jal Jeevan Mission diary, and inspiring stories of transformation in the region.

‘Swachh Sujal Gaon’ offered visitors a glimpse into Uttar Pradesh’s transformation, showcasing the strides the state has made since 2017.
The event also served as a platform to present Bundelkhand’s remarkable turnaround, where water scarcity had once been a major challenge.
Thanks to the Jal Jeevan Mission, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, every village in Bundelkhand now has access to clean drinking water.

Bundelkhand’s transformation was a key highlight at the event, where rural women shared their powerful stories about the struggles they once faced due to water scarcity.
Women from regions such as Banda, Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Lalitpur, and Mahoba spoke of the severe hardships they endured, from difficulties in arranging marriages to health issues like hair loss caused by the daily burden of carrying water.
Their testimonies underscored the profound impact of the Jal Jeevan Mission and how it has changed their lives for the better.
Promoting Sustainable Practices And Spirituality
The Swachh Sujal Gaon also embraced the importance of sustainable practices, with a Jal Mandir reinforcing the message, ‘Jal Prasad Hai, Jal Jeevandayi Hai—Conserve It, Don’t Waste It.’ Morning and evening Ganga Jal Aartis enriched the spiritual atmosphere, offering visitors a deeper connection to the region’s cultural heritage.
A Model Of Prosperous Development
The event also showcased the positive impact of government initiatives like the PM Awas Yojana and Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana.
Visitors explored a 40,000-square-foot model village that integrated solar energy, village development, and the progress of Gram Panchayats. These initiatives illustrated a new narrative of a prosperous Uttar Pradesh and offered visitors a firsthand understanding of the state’s ongoing transformation.
