Delta Airlines Plane Crashes In Toronto; 18 Injured, No Fatalities Reported

A Delta Airlines aircraft carrying 80 passengers from Minneapolis crashed on Monday while attempting to land at Toronto Pearson International Airport, overturning on the snowy runway.

At least 18 passengers sustained injuries and were taken to hospitals, according to CNN.

In a statement, Delta Air Lines confirmed, “Initial reports indicate there are no fatalities and 18 customers with injuries have been transported to area hospitals. Our primary focus is taking care of those impacted.”

Authorities stated that the flight ended up upside down on the runway, but no casualties were reported.

In response, Delta Air Lines canceled all flights to and from Toronto Pearson International Airport. The cancellations applied for the rest of the evening. The airline also issued travel waivers.

According to a post on social media, Toronto Pearson International Airport announced that a media briefing on the crash would be held at 6:30 PM ET.

According to a CNN report, officials confirmed there were no fatalities. However, emergency services reported 15 injuries, including a child.

Following the crash, Toronto Pearson International Airport acknowledged the incident, stating that emergency teams were actively responding.

Taking to X, the airport confirmed, “Toronto Pearson is aware of an incident upon landing involving a Delta Airlines plane arriving from Minneapolis. Emergency teams are responding. All passengers and crew are accounted for.”

Earlier, Peel Regional Police stated that eight people were injured, with one in critical condition but not facing life-threatening injuries. The remaining seven had moderate to mild injuries.
